Consumers Have A Positive Outlook On The Property Market

Digital Property Group Figures Show Buying Is Still Better Than Renting

A recent article by the digital property group (findaproperty, primelocation, globrix) reported that the cost of a mortgage to buy property in 84% the UK is now cheaper than renting.  Zoopla figures reveal that this figure has reduced dramatically down from 94% of the country in just 3 months.  Figures show it is also cheaper to have a mortgage in 42 of Britain’s top 50 towns, whilst renting is 16% more expensive on average than buying property...

CML report higher year on year lending of mortgages continues into 2012.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders reported that mortgage lending fell by 14% in December 2011, but was still 10% higher than the £9.5bn lent the same month in the previous year, at £12.2bn.

The  CML report for January 2012 is borne out by the activity and results we are experiencing in our 18 Curchods offices. There is clearly more confidence with both the lenders and the borrowers which is welcome news for the property market. Once more however,...

Asking Prices see biggest monthly increase for 10 years!

Rightmove recently reported that new sellers increased the asking price for their property by 4.1%, which is the highest monthly increase for a decade, since April 2002 (which saw a 4.5% month on month increase).  In the south east, this figure is even more encouraging, with asking prices seeing a 6.9% monthly increase – with the average house price in the South East now £303,263.

Figures from Nationwide showed how house prices recorded an unexpected rise

HOUSE prices have defied gloom-mongers to record an unexpected rise. They ended 2011 up by a healthy one per cent compared with this time last year.

Mortgage Costs Fall To Most Affordable Level

Homeowners' monthly mortgage payments fell to their most affordable level since records began in 2011. On average, people paid out 15.4% of their take home pay last year to cover their monthly mortgage payments, compared to 2008 when it reached its highest point at 20.5%, figures from Barclays show.
